2016 Bentayga – 11 WO

In 2015, Bentley launched the fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive SUV in the world with the reveal of the Bentayga at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The entire production volume for 2016 rapidly sold out in advance.

A Sector-defining SUV

The Bentayga combined the design, craftsmanship and luxury of a Crewe-built Bentley with outstanding performance and versatility, meeting the needs of a new global audience for the company. Named after a peak in Gran Canaria, it was powered by an all-new twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 TSI. This evolution of the Bentley W12 featured both direct and indirect fuel injection; it developed 600bhp (608PS) maximum power at 6,000rpm and 900Nm of torque from 1,250 to 4,500rpm. The sprint from 0-62mph took 4.1 seconds and with its top speed of 187mph (301 km/h) the Bentayga was then the world’s fastest and most powerful production SUV. With all-wheel drive and a choice of eight drive modes it proved as capable off-road as on metalled highway, and the electrically activated 48V active anti-roll control – a world-first - delivered remarkable poise under cornering. Four ride heights were selectable.

Distinctive Design

With its four floating LED headlamps flanking the familiar matrix grille, the new SUV was instantly recognisable as a Bentley. In profile, the sharp Bentley power line and muscular rear haunch echoed that of its coupé stablemates. To achieve this in a single aluminium panel called for the largest single-piece automotive pressing in the world at the time. Inside, the dashboard took the iconic Bentley ‘wing’ design as its inspiration, with impeccably finished surfaces sweeping from one door to the other around the instrument binnacles and centre console.

The Heritage Collection Bentayga was the first production model off the line at Crewe and carries chassis number 00001. It is finished in Anthracite with Linen hide upholstery and Beluga secondary hide. It was built in a five-seat configuration and has the City, Sunshine and Touring option packages as well as the optional Naim for Bentley sound system.
