2018 Bentayga Hybrid – X60 BML

The Bentayga Hybrid was both the first-ever plug-in hybrid Bentley and the first step in the company’s ‘Beyond 100’ strategy heralding the future electrification of the entire Bentley range. It was, incidentally, the first Bentley to be part-powered by a V6 petrol engine.

At launch it was hailed as a Bentley SUV that, smoothly and in near silence, could venture deep into the city, powered purely by zero-emission electricity, then seamlessly switch to petrol power on the open road. EV-only range from the 17.3 kWh battery was up to 31 miles, and when fully charged and fuelled the combination of petrol and electric power gave the Bentayga Hybrid a range of up to 536 miles.

Together, the 94 kW, 400 Nm electric motor and 3.0 litre twin-scroll turbocharged V6 petrol engine gave a combined output of 443 bhp (449 PS) and 700 Nm of torque, enough to accelerate the Bentayga Hybrid from 0-62 mph in 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 158- mph. NEDC CO2 emissions were quoted at 77 g/km. To visually distinguish the Bentayga Hybrid, design features included Hybrid badging to the sides and rear, with a chrome grille and twin quad tailpipes.

Three Electric Modes

As with other Bentayga models, permanent four-wheel drive gave a choice of four modes – Sport, Bentley, Comfort, and Custom. But in place of the auto Stop-Start switch there was a choice of three electric modes – EV, Hybrid Mode and Hold. The first used electric power only; Hybrid mode intelligently selected between one or both power sources according to demand; Hold conserved battery power for maximum performance in Sport mode.

The Bentley Heritage Collection Bentayga Hybrid

The model in the Bentley Collection is finished in Light Windsor Blue, with a duo-tone interior combining Linen and Brunel hide. As a Centenary model it featured the special Bentley 100 years badging and came with the cost option City, Sunshine and Touring Specifications. Wheels were Mulliner 22" Paragon style. The interior specification included a Breitling clock with mother-of-pearl face, picnic tables, Mulliner diamond contrast quilting, Naim for Bentley sound system and Liquid Amber wood veneer.
